August 3, 2016

We have a few new members joining us at this midway point in the season, so welcome to our new shareholders!

The rain over the past few days has felt amazing and is so wonderful for all our crops. And they could probably use a little help. Both Willowbrook and Whipstone Farms have been contending with all kinds of pests this season, including beetles, diseases, javelinas, ravens, squirrels, skunks, and deer. We certainly aren’t the only ones looking forward to the harvest!

This week we get some firsts for the season: peppers and eggplant. I have been looking forward to these ones for a while! When we really get accustomed to eating with the seasons it helps us appreciate each crop so much more. There is only one part of the year that we can enjoy these vegetables locally and enjoy them I will!
