Happy Memorial Day!

Things sure are getting busy now that the season is in full swing! And these longer days are both a blessing and a curse. The longer daylight hours keep tricking me into thinking it’s much earlier than it is, resulting in perpetually rushed dinner preparation. But the extra sunlight is what’s making all these delicious goodies grow, so keep it coming (and maybe a little rain too).

This week our shares are still heavy on greens, as is typical for this type of year. We all get to try something new in this week’s basket: salanova, small heads of lettuce that you can pick the leaves off to make your own salad mix. We also have an asian greens mix that is great for stir fry. And for a very special treat, we have honey from Ubiquitous Bee Company in Cornville! If you want to know more about the honey and the bees that made it, you can email ubiquitousbee@gmail.com.

Shanti, from Whipstone Farm, has been elected as a delegate to attend Slow Food’s international gathering Terra Madre Salone Del Gusto in Italy this September. This gathering of food activists and food aficionados is an amazing opportunity to learn about food and farming initiatives around the world. Our local Slow Food chapter is raising funds for Shanti and fellow delegate Patti Marrs to attend. Here is a link to the fundraising page if you would like to make a donation.

Thanks and have a great week!
