October 11, 2017

Can you all believe that it is the last week of the season?! It sure feels like this year has flown by. Thanks to all of you for supporting our local farmers and sharing in the risks and rewards of another amazing growing season. It sure was tumultuous with all the flooding and javelinas, but I hope that you all enjoyed your produce, eggs, and flowers just as much as I did. Our farmers truly do an amazing job and I am so grateful to every one of you for supporting their work.

Please join me in giving thanks to our wonderful farmers: Shanti and Cory (and their children and interns) at Whipstone Farm, Hope, Hilary, and Denise at Willowbrook Farm, and all the other growers that have shared their bounty with us this season: Sanders Farm, Zopilote Produce, Indian Gardens Farm, Dominguez Ranch, Tickaboo Ranch, and Verde Run Farms. I am also so grateful to the volunteers that distribute your shares each week: Jon Howe and Brian Widmer in Sedona, and Skip and Terrilyn Larson and Hope, Hilary, and Denise in Cornville (and Camp Verde), as well as Josh Rozum, who brings the produce from Whipstone Farm and delivers all the shares to Sedona. We could not make it happen without all of these wonderful people! And special thanks to Hilary, who not only shares the work of growing at Willowbrook Farm, but also runs the whole financial and logistical side of the CSA. What an amazing team of dedicated local food lovers!

Since a few people have asked, I would like to fill all of you in on our price increase next season. I especially want our newest shareholders to know that we raise prices every 3-5 years, and the time has come for such an increase. At the start of each season we sit down with our farmers and update our price list based on changes in produce prices at both farmers’ markets and grocery stores. We pay all of our growers market prices, not wholesale, so we occasionally have to adjust the share price to ensure that you continue to receive the same amount of produce you have come to expect. Thanks for your understanding and please contact me if you have any questions about the upcoming season.

We hope that you can all join us on Wednesday for our annual end-of-the-season potluck. I will be in Sedona, and Hilary and Denise will be in Cornville. We are so grateful for the chance to visit with all of you and hear what you loved this year and would love to see more of next year. If you pick up your share in Camp Verde, please let us know if you would like to pick up your share at either the Sedona or Cornville potluck by Tuesday at noon. We look forward to sharing a delicious array of foods with our shareholders and volunteers and sending out the season with a bang!

Thank you for joining us this season!
