July 12, 2017

The rain has finally arrived and not a moment too soon! While our farmers rely on irrigation to keep their crops going, a little rain goes a long way. It doesn’t hurt that the cloud cover has cooled things down a bit as well. I think we are all breathing a sigh of relief and enjoying some respite from the sun.

This week we get our first plums of the season! And not just one, but two varieties. Green gage plums are – you guessed it – green when ripe, but they are juicy and delicious. Santa Rosa plums are a more traditional looking variety, also with excellent flavor. Salad mix is still going strong… thank goodness! What is better than a fresh salad on a hot summer day?

I will be leaving town tomorrow for a two-week trek of the Tour de Mont Blanc in Switzerland, France, and Italy (wish me luck!). I will not be available by phone or email, so if you need anything while I am away please contact Hilary Barnett at Willowbrook Farm. She can be reached at (928) 592-8886 or hbarnett101@gmail.com. Hilary can answer any questions you may have about your second half payments, which are due on July 19th. If you need to know your balance, please contact her.

Hilary will be handling the emails for the next few weeks, so I’ll be in touch again when I return! Have a great few weeks!
